The Seedball

FREMONT, Calif., Nov 5, 2021 — After nine months of rigorous research and development by over 25 students in the United States, Beyond Terra is excited to announce its first product called the “Seedball.” The product aims to assist in environmental education and forest fire mitigation.

Taking inspiration from similar products implemented in Kenya and the UK by for-profit companies, Beyond Terra used similar processes to prototype and design a proprietary product engineered for Bay Area habitats. Our product is 2.5x more effective than conventional Bay Area native seeding and is engineered to be implemented via drones and other forms of mass deployment. The Seedball can be incorporated into school curricula and serve as an important tool for climate literacy and science education for students from K-12.

Beyond Terra is working with Bay Area schools— American High School, Ardenwood Elementary School, etc. —and educational nonprofits — Logical Minds, LEAF, etc. — and other groups to get this tool in the hands of educators, environmentalists, and students.

After implementation in the Bay Area for education and enrichment, Beyond Terra plans to expand to areas that have gone through a forest fire in Northern California and Canada to aid in secondary succession via Seedball technology.

About Beyond Terra

Beyond Terra is an environmental conservation 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the San Francisco Bay Area that works to restore and preserve biodiversity by advancing the future of conservation. Beyond Terra emerges out of a careful analysis of how modern innovation impacts environmental conservation. The group is currently involved in a small number of projects throughout North America and South Asia. We believe that in order to deal with today’s environmental challenges, conservation should move into a field that has been largely unexplored via education and innovation.
